A few years ago, I read a study conducted by UC Irvine that proved that babies resemble their father, regardless of whom they may favor as older children and adults. They opined that this was an evolutionary development because it would encourage the biological father (back in the days before DNA testing) to recognize and bond with his offspring, thus making it more likely the baby would survive.
