The Countdown to Maui continues . . . .
I first travelled to the Hawaiian Islands with my brother and mother in 1977, a few months after my father was killed in an automobile accident. From that first trip there, I have always stayed in Napili Bay, an area north of Kaanapali. The island was, of course, much less developed then. Kaanapali and Kapalua were just plans on some developer's table. Napili Bay is a pretty beach, and used to have some of the best snorkelling around. For awhile, the Bay took a big hit - all the development north and south of it took its toll on the reefs contained in the Bay. I'm happy to report though, that the last few years, there seems to be a resurgence of underwater life. I've even enjoyed swimming with some turtles feeding on the reef.

Here I am snorkelling in Honolua Bay, Maui, circa 1997 . . .

Thanks for your visit....I bet you will have a fabulous time in Maui, once again...
Many many years ago, I spent 14 weeks on The Big Island...and went to Maui for a weekend...It was 1974 and some of those HiRis Hotels had already started to be built---near Lahaina....By now it must be unbelievably built up...! It's good to know the Reefs are somewhat rejuvinated....!

My history with Hawaii goes way back (to begin with, I was conceived there), but perhaps my best trip was going to summer school there my sophmore year of college. Three friends and I attended the University of Hawaii. Two glorious months of aloha spirit.

Good to hear you're returning to such a beautiful place. It's been over 20 years since I've been to the islands, and a fond memory I have is of the opposite side of Maui that you're staying at. I drove all the way around the East side of the island, and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Hope you have a great time!

We were on Maui (Ka'anapali) in December.

One of the best nights... was tickets to see Warren & Annabelle's Magic Show in Lahaina. NOT schmatlzy at all, VERY funny evening with surprises, and the food was worth the extra money. Delicious and wonderful. :)

Michele says hello!

My history with Hawaii dates back the the time where the Saved By The Bell gang head to the island and end up thwarting an evil developer's plan to take Kelly Kapowski's grandfather's land from him.

There also was the time where the Full House family took a vacation to Hawaii and the whole family ended up singing with the Beach Boys at one of their concerts. I had such a crush on Uncle Jesse...

Other than that? I got nothing.

I hope you have lots of fun and get marvelous weather for your vacation!

Pelegrim took me to Hawaii for the first time ever for my birthday a few years ago. It was probably one of the most romantic and relaxing trips we've ever been on. Hope you have a great time!
