Today the girls got their semi-annual baths, and I'm seriously considering bathing myself this morning. Work has been crazy busy, but a number of projects have been postponed, so I'm looking forward to a nice, relaxing weekend.
In other news, all 3 of Michael Vick's co-conspirators have entered guilty pleas, leaving Vick twisting in the wind . . . . With the recent pleas, there is now sworn testimony from his buddies that Vick not only financed the operations and provided the funds for the illegal gambling (the action that will likely be considered the most serious by the NFL), but personally particpated in the execution of dogs by hanging and drowning . . . the question remains: when is NFL commissioner Roger Goodell going to step up and suspend Vick?
My Netflix queue is full of BBC television programming - I'm currently working my way through Season 3 of Ballykissangel and Season 2 of Jeeves and Wooster. Has anyone watched a DVD lately that you highly recommend?
TGIF!

With Stinky, baths are few and far between. I find just washing his bed does the trick. He always has a really sad attitude when it comes to soap and water on his body.
But a fresh bed makes him wag his tail.
Is it just me or is that one pooch looking up asking, "What did you do that for?"
Haven't watched any DVD's lately.
flix - that reminds me to throw the bed covers into the wash today!
sage - they don't mind it so much during or after, it's that horrible moment when the recognize the signs that mean a bath is coming
Back when I had dogs I had to tie one to the fence in order to bathe him, otherwise he would run. The other one sat perfectly still until I was done.
The last movie I watched was the Departed and I thought it was pretty good.
semi-annually? You are kidding right?
I hope they bathe more than twice a year. On the other hand, I don't know proper dog handling. Do dogs need regular baths?
Once, after my childhood dog was bathed, she went out and rolled in bear poop*. The stink was terrible but she was pretty proud of herself. Of course she got another bath which made her extremely mournful.
*yes, I grew up in a small town surrounded by woods with bears and cougars.
My older brother always bathed our dog so I am ignorant of proper rules for that process.
The last good movie I watched on DVD was Hot Fuzz.
I keep meaning to get into Jeeves adn Wooster. I caught one random episode on tv and was hooked, but I have to get the DVDs if I want to really get into them.
Happy weekend, Diane!
Those are two good looking doggies.
Speaking of BBC programs ... I'm not sure how much of a Sci-Fi fan you are, but I'm semi-hooked on the new "Doctor Who" series from the BBC. They can be a bit hokey and hyperbolic at times, but they are also really fun and entertaining. And they have a good dose of Brit charm to them. Plus the leads (which have changed over the 3 or so seasons) are quite good.
Also, for fans of Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry out there. I've heard/read good things about there sort-of-sketch comedy program "A Bit of Fry and Laurie". I've seen a couple of episodes and parts I can understand are funny at times, though at other times I find their humor a little too crazy (for lack of a better term). But, at times, there's just too much Brit slang and references for me to follow along.
I rare bathe my indoor cats. One morning, however, I woke up and found that a lot soot had blown out of my fireplace, and there were little black footprints all over my house. All three cats were soot-stained and all three had baths. I started with Alfie who put up his usual fuss. Cleo and Phoebe hadn't lived with me very long, so it was their first bath by me. I took Cleo next because she's generally mild-mannered and sweet. She turned into a wild untamed tiger in the bath (sink) and clawed me up one side and down the other. Horrible experience. Phoebe who is usually pretty sassy meekly submitted with barely a peep, just a sad face of defeat.
Ffleur - You don't want to bathe dogs too often because it affects their skin and their coat if you do. Twice yearly sounds perfect, unless they get into something unsavory.
Semi-annual? Really? Wally gets bathed every few months.
Haven't watched any good DVDs lately (other than Hot Fuzz), but I do know that filming started this week on the US version of Life on Mars.
Recent DVD's that I've seen that I would recommend:
Pan's Labyrinth; Letters from Iwo Jima- both of these are subtitled foreign language films, and they are two of the sadder movies I've seen in recent years, but they are the two best movies that I have seen from last year.
If you're in the mood for lighter fare: Inside Man, or Deja Vu. The former is a pretty good caper flick from Spike Lee. Not what you normally expect from him. The latter is a pretty brainless but entertaining pseudo-sci-fi flick. Both star Denzel, who does not suck.
If you want to watch TV on DVD instead: Deadwood, Dinosaurs, or Arrested Development.
