Resolutions 2007 Update, Day 4 . . .
(Nanners and me on Xmas day)
Day 3 of Nutrisystem - I have dropped a couple of lbs., and I have to say that the food is better than I expected.
Books Read 2007 - I have begun 2 new books - Lonesome Dove on audio, and Simisola by Ruth Rendell. Lonesome Dove (about 36 hours of listening) is one of my top 5 favorite books of all time. When Larry McMurtry is good (e.g., Lonesome Dove and The Last Picture Show) he is spectacular. Other times, some of his books feel rushed or just get too darn silly. I love the print version, and also admire the TV Movie starring Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall, but have never before listened to the audio version.
Paint/decorate my bedroom - the room is about half painted ""Green Tea" - and I am very pleased with the color. I bought some new blinds and new curtains too! (photo to follow soon).
Floss every day - 4 days and counting.

Hey D, did you see this? I don't know if it is a hoax or not. But I figured you could get the word out.
HB Newland Humane Society is closing! Pls read!
Body: Please be advised that Huntington Beach Humane Society (the 'humane' part is questionable) is closing down for good on January 8 and ALL DOGS MUST BE ADOPTED OR THEY WILL BE EUTHANIZED. The shelter is not publicizing this very well (probably for fear of the bad publicity) so we need to spread the word. Please share this information with other animal lovers in the hopes that more animals will be adopted from there. If nothing else, maybe your funds can help move them to another humane facility....like in Irvine or San Clemente. The shelter is 'selling' the dogs for 50% off to move them out.
PLEASE SAVE THE LIFE OF A PRECIOUS ANIMAL.....THERE'S ONLY 5 DAYS LEFT. Even if you can't have one of your own, just forward this on to everyone you know and have them forward it on....you NEVER know who winds up wanting and getting a dog! I've been surprised numerous times by people who I never thought in a million years would get an animal!
If you feel moved, just get in the car and go down there and look - anybody you know need a belated Xmas gift? You just might find your (4 legged) true love there!!!

adam I saw that, but then found an article from Tuesday in the OC Register that says it is false, and that they are staying open during renovations!
Humane Society shelter to remain open during remodel
The large-scale project is set to begin later this month at the no-kill facility in Huntington Beach.
By JENNIFER MUIR
The Orange County Register
HUNTINGTON BEACH - The Orange County Humane Society animal shelter is not closing.
A shelter remodel is scheduled to begin later this month, said Dr. Samir Botros.
Botros responded today to rumors swirling around Surf City that his animal shelter was being shut down next week and that the animals not adopted would be euthanized.
"I don't think we'll even turn away any animals" during construction, said Botros, who noted that he runs a no-kill facility.
The shelter, which has been open on Newland Avenue for about 28 years, and the adjacent AAA Animal Hospital are scheduled to begin a massive remodel in upcoming weeks, said Botros, who owns both businesses.
The shelter will remain open during construction, but its capacity will be slashed to about 60 percent or 70 percent. There are now up to 64 cages for dogs at the shelter and a large room to accommodate cats, Botros said.
Shelter officials already have signed contracts with other area shelters and rescue groups to take animals that can't be accommodated during the remodel, which should take six to eight months, Botros said.
The shelter is funded with proceeds from animal control contracts with Costa Mesa and Westminster, medical bills from the clinic and money from animal adoptions. Occasionally it receives private donations.
The shelter will be able to maintain its contracts with Westminster and Costa Mesa during the remodeling, Botros said.
He also said he believes the facility won't have to turn away pets given up by their owners.
Nanners has got this pose perfected!
The first full length book I listened to on tape (this was 15 years ago and I was driving across the country) was McMurty's Buffalo Girls.
I'd like to get a new pic of my dog, but he's afraid of the camera for the flash reminds him of lightning.
flix, sage - Hanna is used to being photographed and is pretty much a ham now!
Congratulations on the loss! I feel like I need to work on getting myself into somewhat decent shape.
Nanners does look like quite the camera lover. She knows she looks good and she's workin' it. :)
Can't wait to see the finished paint project.
I just can't say it enough: Labradors are the best!
Thanks for the update. I was thinking of going and getting a pal for Papagorgio, but she can continue to be the Queen Bee.
I got the same email that NFL adam got (from the punk rock mom) followed a few minutes later by the same retraction. The good news is, all the animal lovers are on top of it!
Congrats on doing so well the first week of resolutions!
Nanners rules!
la - I think it is cool too how fast the word spread
adam - you should STILL go get Nikki a buddy!
I've only ever been able to read Lonesome Dove which I loved. His other books kinda bore me.
